VIENNA

Vienna police and the state crime lab are investigating a double shooting Wednesday at 4499 Warren-Sharon Road.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots and later, a man and woman were taken away in ambulances.

The incident occurred at 11:52 a.m. at a large house, subdivided into five apartments. The house is about a half mile east of Youngstown Kingsville Road.

Brooke Hoffman, 38, and Craig Hoffman, 33, who lived in a first-floor apartment, were both hit by gunfire, Vienna police Chief Andy Pecchio said.

Brooke Hoffman drove around the house, firing one shot at the house, then crashed her car into a motorcycle, the chief said. She got out of the car, went into the apartment, and that’s when she and her husband exchanged gunfire. Brooke Hoffman was hit in the back of the head; Craig Hoffman was hit twice in the body. Both are in serious condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center, he added.
