Ohio expects economic boost from Jehovah's Witnesses confab

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Southwest Ohio officials expect to reap an economic boost from a series of weekend meetings by the religious group Jehovah’s Witnesses.

An estimated 30,000 people are expected to visit Wright State University’s Nutter Center over four weekends beginning Friday. It’s a district convention of the group known for its door-to-door ministry.

The Dayton Daily News reports that officials forecast a $14 million economic impact from the convention for restaurants, hotels and other local businesses.
