Cycle hits donkey; couple are injured
BRISTOLVILLE
A man and woman on a custom-made motorcycle were injured, one of them seriously, when they hit a donkey on state Route 45 at 1:49 a.m. Sunday.
Tina Freeman, 23, of Cortland, was transported to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital and later transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center. She was the passenger on the motorcycle.
She suffered serious head injuries after she was ejected from the motorcycle, the Southington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Zachary Sain, 23, of Warren, was taken to Trumbull Memorial with nonlife-threatening injuries after he, too, was ejected. Freeman and Sain were not wearing helmets, the patrol said.
The motorcycle was northbound when it struck the donkey, which entered the roadway from the west. The donkey was killed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
Man, woman face charges
BOARDMAN
A man and woman from North Lima are accused of forcing a neighbor to try to sell stolen jewelry.
Kelly Jean Crowe, 28, and Patrick Michael Braun, 39, are each charged with receiving stolen property.
Police issued warrants for the two after an investigation by Boardman and Springfield police. Police said the pair forced an elderly neighbor to sell jewelry valued at about $1,500 to TeleGold on Market Street about 3 p.m. Thursday.
Crowe and Braun were a jailed this weekend and held on $4,000 bond.

The regular meeting of the Youngstown Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. today in the Irene L. Ward Building, 20 W. Wood St., preceded by an open caucus at 5:30 p.m. when the board may adjourn to executive session. Formal action may be taken.
