Stars and Stripes 5K is planned for July 4

A Stars and Stripes 5K Run and Walk will take place July 4 at the Howland High School Stadium, 200 Shaffer Drive.

The event is sponsored by St. Joseph Health Center and St. Joseph Urgent Care. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., and runners should arrive no later than 7:30.

There will be a 1-mile fun walk at 8 a.m., and the 5K race will start at 8:20. This is a 5K-accurate course (3.1 miles). There will be race marshals, water stations, restrooms, post-race refreshments and a digital-clock finish.

Registration before June 22 is $12, and race-day registration is $15. The 1-mile fun walk is $10. Souvenir T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 200 entrants.
