Local foundation 5K is run at Firestone Park

COLUMBIANA

Siembida & Boggs Philanthropic Foundation recently hosted the fifth annual Vision for Veterans 5K at Firestone Park in Columbiana.

There were 324 registered participants for three events: a toddler’s trot, kids fun run and 5K. Runners came from six states and from as far away as The Hague, Holland.

The top three overall veterans were awarded a trophy to thank them for their service as well as their placement in the race.

In first place was Thomas Macri of Edinburg, Pa., 19:53.5; second place, Ed Brainard of Campbell, 19:53.8; and third place, Dean Custer of Alliance, 21:10.2.

The event benefits veterans, military families and veterans organizations.
