Kent State baseball advances to College World Series

Kent State defeated Oregon 3-2 on Monday night to advance to the College World Series for the first time in school history.

The Golden Flashes defeated the Ducks 2 games to 1 in the Super Regional, winning on Monday when Jimmy Rider singled in Derek Toadvine with the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth.

Toadvine led off the inning with a walk, then was sacrificed to second by Evan Campbell (West Branch), setting up Rider's hit.

Kent State will play the winner of Monday's Baylor-Arkansas game in the CWS on Friday.
