Amid Lake Erie search, man reports his boat was stolen

CLEVELAND

The Coast Guard says an Ohio man whose boat was found on Lake Erie with no one aboard was found safe at home and reported his boat had been stolen.

The search began Friday evening off Cleveland when other boaters saw a boat stuck on the rocks near Burke Lakefront Airport.

The owner was found safe at his home in suburban Independence on Saturday. The Coast Guard looked for anyone who may have stolen the boat and went missing in Lake Erie but suspended the search Saturday afternoon.

A Coast Guard boat and helicopter and Cleveland fire department dive team took part in the search.
