Field Day planned for amateur radio

NORTH LIMA

The Western Reserve Amateur Radio Club will conduct its 2012 ARRL Field Day exercises beginning at 2 p.m. June 23 and 24 at Elser Airport, 10800 Sharott Road.

Club members will join hams throughout Ohio and across the United States in this annual event. The public is welcome to observe modern amateur radio communication at work. Radio operators will be available to answer questions.

The exercises involve setting up and operating an amateur radio station. Then the amateurs will compete with similar stations around the country.

A “Get On The Air” station also will be available for members of the public to try their hand at amateur radio.

Testing for all levels of amateur radio licensing will be available at 10 a.m. June 23.
