Pavlik defeats Sigmon with TKO

Kelly Pavlik defeated Steve Sigmon by TKO following the 7th round in their super middleweight fight in Las Vegas on Friday night.

Pavlik was steady and dominating throughout the fight. Sigmon attempted to stay close to Pavlik to take away the latter's reach advantage, but that strategy also allowed Pavlik to shower a steady dose of quick punches to Sigmon's head.

In the 5th round Pavlik opened a cut over Sigmon's right eye that got progressively worse as the fight progressed. Pavlik never landed a devastating punch but the combination of his attacks throughout the bout took its toll. At the end of the 7th round Sigmon's corner called the fight.
