Historical society sets June meeting
SALEM
The monthly program of Salem Historical Society will feature a return of author and artist Karen Biery, who will present a summary of her third book after a short business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 208 S. Broadway Ave.
Biery’s book, “Shackles,” focuses on George, a twice-captured slave from Georgia who flees to freedom in Salem. Biery attended Kent State University for creative writing and studied watercolors. She began her career in retail management and designed her own retail environment in Olde English Garden Company.
Attendees will be greeted by Joan Lora when using the rear entrance on East Alley. Alice Deatherage and B.J. Abrams will provide refreshments after the program. Call 330-337-8514 for information.
