Diamondback Golf Course will host courses for kids in grades fifth through eighth on June 12, 19, 26 and 27 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. College instructors from Youngstown State University and Ohio State University will be teaching the course. Lunch will be provided.

Canfield hosts alumni basketball league

The Canfield High School coaching staff is looking to put together an alumni basketball summer league for all former Canfield boys basketball players. There will be a schedule of games created based on the number of those interested.

Diane McCall honored

Diane McCall, the Canfield High School girl’s golf coach, was inducted into the Ohio High School golf coaches hall of fame.

McCall helped to begin the Canfield High team in 1997. During her 15-year tenure, the Cardinals have won 11 league titles, eight sectional championships, and three state trips. They have a 237-53 record in that span.

5K Cardinal Classic in Canfield

The Canfield Cardinal Classic will be held on June 23. A free 400 meter kid’s race will start at 8:10 p.m. A 1.5 mile adult walk/run will begin at 8:25 p.m. with the 5K race starting at 8:45 p.m. Pre- event registration costs $15 and registration at the event costs $18. Canfield grad played ball at Hiram

Tim Calhoun, of Canfield, Ohio, played in all 34 games this spring for the Hiram College baseball team, starting in 33.

Keller selected for All-Ohio Tournament team

Kayley Keller of Canfield High School has been selected as a member of the 2012 Northeast district All-Ohio Underclassmen Tournament team. The tournament will be held at Pickerington High School on Monday and Tuesday.

This tournament sponsored by the Ohio Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association features players from around the state to compete for their prospective region. Keller, who plays center field for Canfield, led the Lady Cards in RBIs, triples, and had four home runs this season. She also plays for Valley Extreme.

Boosters established for Mike Mannozzi

The Michael Mannozzi Olympic Dream Fund, spearheaded by the Agnew and Basista families, has been established for the Olympic hopeful.

The public is invited to join the effort. Sponsorship monies will help offset expenses incurred in Mike’s conditioning, training regimen, and travel for various competitions and additional coaching opportunities.
