Women’s clothing boutique Chico’s, located at 813 Boardman-Poland Road in Boardman. cares just as for the community as it does about selling clothes.

In that spirit, Chico’s has collaborated with the Children’s Miracle Network and created several events in an effort to collect donations for Akron Children’s Hospital. The boutique is adamant about all the funding remaining in the Valley.

The boutique’s community service efforts aligns with its customer-centric motto, which is to give the “Most Amazing Personal Service” (MAPS).

The boutique is hosting several events in June in an effort to reach the store goal of $5,000, but still needs more support from the community. The store has pledged to credit $25 off $100 spent in the store to any of its customers who brings in a copy of this story or mentions it to a store clerk.

“We just want people to open up their hearts to the little ones who are going through some tough times, and in return we’ll give you a discount,” said store manager Deanna Altmar.

After being on the women’s fashion scene for more than 25 years, Chico’s has recently expanded to the Valley.

“I think we wanted to bring uniqueness to the Valley,” said Marlene Fekete, lead sales associate at Chico’s.

According to Fekete, the boutique has grown tremendously from its humble beginnings as a small Mexican folklore and accessory store in Florida to more than 600 stores nationwide.

“We have our own private brand. We create our own clothes and make our own prints,” said Altmar.
