Woman drowns after backing ATV into creek

AIRVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a woman drowned after accidentally backing an all-terrain vehicle into a creek.

State police say the woman and her husband were celebrating their anniversary Wednesday night when she backed the ATV down a 6-foot embankment and into the 8-foot-deep creek on their Chanceford Township, York County property.

Investigators say the woman’s husband performed CPR while waiting for emergency crews to respond. York County 911 says rescuers had to use a logging road to reach the couple.

Police say the woman’s name wasn’t being released pending notification of her family.
