A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 28

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 2100 block of Manor Avenue before taking money and a $260 global-positioning- system unit from two vehicles.

Burglary: To a residence in the 2200 block of Renwick Drive via a side window. A credit card was missing.

May 30

Identity theft: An Autumnwood Trail woman discovered her credit-card number had been used to make unauthorized purchases.

Criminal mischief/menacing: A man reported damage to his car in the 7600 block of Youngstown- Pittsburgh Road, and that he was being stalked.

May 31

Theft: Two vehicle mirrors were stolen at Larry’s Drive-Thru, 3305 Center Road.

BOARDMAN

May 31

Misuse of a credit card: An Afton Avenue man noticed six unauthorized charges totaling $857 to his account.

Theft: A digital camera, an Ohio Lottery ticket, a pair of sunglasses and $25 were removed from a car in the 4800 block of Market Street.

Theft: Michael R. Krugel, 30, of 152 Matta Ave., Youngstown, was charged with stealing $92 worth of clothing and shoes from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Littering: A man reported someone illegally dumped discarded carpeting on property he owns in the 5300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A man in his late 20s or early 30s stole a $299 Sony PlayStation 3 system from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: A vehicle check in the 600 block of East Midlothian Boulevard resulted in 24-year-old Kristy M. Bentley’s arrest. Bentley, of 23 Fincastle Ave., Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court.

Misuse of a credit card: A Griswold Drive woman found that a $429 unauthorized online purchase had been made via her checking account.

Theft: An employee of a Windham Court business reported the theft of her wallet and $600 cellphone.

Identity fraud: A Glenwood Avenue woman noticed five fraudulent charges totaling $100 had been made to her Visa card between January and May.

Menacing: A Wolosyn Circle man and his neighbor’s son each reported having been threatened by the other.

Theft: A Poland woman discovered her purse missing at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A $1,000 stereo system and an MP3 player were removed from a car in the 7000 block of Market Street.

Arrest: Police responding to a fight on West Boulevard took into custody 36-year-old Charese A. Cross, 5123 West Blvd., Boardman, who was wanted on felony warrants from Austintown charging her with two counts of forgery and one of passing bad checks. Cross also was charged with obstructing official business when, officers said, they returned to arrest her on the warrants and she refused several times to answer the door.

Arrest: George F. Haley, 42, of 4870 Brookwood Road, Boardman, surrendered on a charge of failing to provide for an emotionally impaired person, a first-degree misdemeanor. While conducting a welfare check, police said they found an 85-year-old family member living in deplorable conditions that included trash strewn throughout the apartment, no electricity and two empty refrigerators. Mahoning County Adult Protective Services was contacted, the report showed.

Arrest: Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested 42-year-old William P. Milano III at his residence, 4461 South Ave., Boardman, on felony warrants charging him with disrupting public services and unauthorized use of property. Milano was accused of tampering several times with a cable box to illegally obtain cable services and at one point causing the loss of Internet access to about 200 customers, a report said.

Arrest: U.S. marshals picked up Jennifer L. Gosling, 26, at her home, 942 W. Indianola Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of receiving stolen property after a woman attending services at a South Avenue church alleged Gosling had stolen $250 from her.

June 1

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street led to a drug-possession charge against a 16-year-old Boardman boy when, police said, a bottle of pills with no label was found.

Domestic violence: Margaret A. August, 65, of 5521 Loretta Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her husband alleged August had struck his left eye. Police said they saw swelling, bruising and a cut near the affected area.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Shields Road woman said her roommate took and failed to return her 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Theft: Zackary Capron, 26, of 1411 Elbron Ave., Salem, was charged in the theft of three Sony Play- Station 3 games from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aggravated menacing: A Shields Road woman told police a man she knows called and threatened to blow up her residence during an argument about personal matters.

Menacing: A Youngstown woman alleged a worker with a Market Street hair salon threatened to harm her after she had been accused of stealing from the business.

Criminal mischief: An employee of a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant said someone spit on his vehicle and sent him unwanted text messages.

Aggravated menacing: A Hopkins Road woman told police a man, 18, threatened to burn down her home.

Drugs: Leon J. Grimes, 21, of 1591 Moore Field Ave., Austintown, faced a marijuana-possession charge after police said they found a piece of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop on Market Street. Grimes also was charged with obstructing official business when, authorities said, he initially refused to step out of his vehicle.

Theft/criminal damage: A rear window was broken on a vehicle in the 1100 block of Thalia Avenue; several items were missing.

Identity theft: A Shadyside Drive man learned his personal information had been used to open a cellphone account online.

Theft: Sixty compact discs, a cellphone charger, a cigarette lighter and a portable TV/DVD player were removed from a car in the 4600 block of Waseka Lane.

Recovered property: A 2001 Saturn vehicle was found in the 8100 block of Market Street after it had been reported stolen in Youngstown.

Identity fraud: A Hitchcock Road man found out someone had fraudulently used the accuser’s name to receive his income-tax refund.

June 2

Harassment: A Basil Avenue man reported getting such a text message.

Theft: A man in his late 30s to early 40s stole a $1,500 video projector from Best Buy.

Criminal damaging: Someone threw at least five eggs and a beer bottle at a residence in the 7700 block of East Parkside Drive, damaging a portion of vinyl siding.

Domestic violence: Police charged 35-year-old Karen C. Degenaro, 6643 Applewood Blvd., Boardman, with the crime after her sister alleged Degenaro had threatened to harm her after accusing the sister of stealing from her.

Menacing: John Brandt, 43, of 251 Maywood Ave., Youngstown, was picked up on a felony charge of menacing by stalking after his former wife, of Boardman, alleged Brandt had left threatening voice-mail messages when two teenage girls were alone at her residence, and when Brandt was the primary suspect in a related investigation.

Arrest: Christopher A. Jones, 41, of 131 S. Bayshore Drive, Columbiana, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over on West Boulevard.

Possible arson/threats: An Annawan Lane woman reported receiving degrading and threatening text messages, and discovering an American flag in her front yard had been burned.

June 3

Harassment: A Marinthiana Avenue woman said she got a vulgar cellphone call.

Domestic violence: Police charged 33-year-old Laura M. Yi, 7725 Hitchcock Road, Boardman, after her husband alleged an enraged Yi had pushed him several times during an argument related to personal property.

Fraud: An employee with Ianazone’s Pizza, 7271 West Blvd., reported a customer phoned in a $9.50 food order but never picked it up.

Theft: A man said his wallet was removed from a counter at a Market Street doughnut shop.

Aggravated menacing: The owner of a business in the 5300 block of Market Street told police a caller threatened to come to the business and shoot him.

Voyeurism: A surveillance camera at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, caught a man who had been issued a criminal-trespassing warning using a camera and possibly a video device to photograph female customers behind their backs and without their knowledge.

Theft: A woman reported a tablet stolen from her son’s gym bag at a McClurg Road business.

Criminal mischief/possible endangerment: A Tanglewood Drive man told officers a 4-year-old child who lives nearby tampered with a shopping cart filled with building materials on the man’s driveway. The child apparently wandered from his residence before being returned there, a report said.

Theft: A charge was pending against a man who was detained after reportedly stealing a $47 cellphone case from Walmart.

Theft: A Cook Avenue woman accused her roommate of stealing $375.

Arrest: Officers responded to a possible vehicular crash near Lemoyne and Country Club avenues, where they cited 20-year-old Jeffrey T. Wellman, 1732 Brandon Ave., Poland, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and failure to control a motor vehicle.

Theft: Two rings totaling $1,500 in value were stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Mathews Road.

Theft/abandonment: A lawn mower and an aluminum step ladder were taken from a residence in the 60 block of Centervale Avenue. Also, a puppy and a cat were found abandoned at the home.

Criminal mischief: A man leaving a Tiffany Boulevard business reported one of his tires fell off before he discovered someone had deliberately loosened the lug nuts.
