Damage estimate from Austintown restaurant fire is $75K

AUSTINTOWN — Firefighters have estimated damage to the former Scacchetti’s Restaurant on Mahoning Avenue at Four Mile Run Road at about $65,000 in property and $10,000 in contents, or a total loss.

A call about the blaze at 3781 Mahoning Ave. came in about 10:50 a.m. Monday and the last firefighters left the scene about 2:30 p.m. A cause has yet to be determined, and a follow-up report from an arson investigator is under way.

The 2,593-square-foot structure was built in 1925. Scacchetti’s moved to Boardman about six years ago and closed a couple of years later.
