3 suspects sought in shooting
YOUNGSTOWN
Police are looking for three men who shot a man during a botched attempt at stealing cash and marijuana and also a group of boys who beat a man in separate incidents on the South Side.
According to police reports, a 24-year-old South Side man went to a store in the 2500 block of Glenwood Avenue just after midnight Monday. The man told police he had in his pocket a half-ounce of marijuana.
The man walked past three males standing outside the store. One of the men told the would-be victim he could smell the marijuana and asked if he could have some. The victim told the men the marijuana is not for sale and is for his own personal use.
The victim told police he left the store wearing headphones and listening to music but turned around to see one of the men standing behind him with a gun. The man ordered him to hand over his money and belongings. The other two men surrounded him on both sides.
The victim told police he punched the man holding the gun and tried to run off. As he ran, he told police could hearing the cocking of the gun and then a series of shots.
The victim was shot in the foot and fell, but did manage to get back up and continue running. The man saw the three men run off. He received treatment at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.
A 30-year-old South Side man told police he was pistol-whipped by a teenage boy Saturday and beaten by other teens when returning the driver’s license of a friend.
The man told police a female friend left her driver’s license at a bar and he wanted to return the license to her. He told police he took the woman the license, but she talked loudly, alarming her son and several of his friends.
The man told police one of the teens hit him over the head several times with a gun while the others punched and kicked him when he fell to the ground.
The man was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center for a swollen eye and cuts to the back of his head.
