SENIOR SIDELIGHTS
Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 9 a.m., painting class ($5),blood pressure screening and monthly membership meeting at 9:30, bingo and Ask the Social Worker at 10, and computer class at noon; Tuesday, Vets Helping Vets, bingo and line dancing at 10 a.m., bridge club at 10:30, cards and dogs at 11:30, and amateur radio test and Kitchen Krew (take a bag lunch) at noon; Wednesday, open exercise at 9 a.m., bingo at 10, pizza party ($2) at noon, and movie matinee, “Man on a Ledge,” at 1 p.m.; Thursday, yoga ($2), jump stretch class and open exercise at 9:30 a.m., bingo at 10, beginning crochet at 11:30, and Bible study and Austintown Senior Players at noon; Friday, Wii bowling tournament at 9 a.m., bingo at 10, and discussion group and Wii practice (group choice) at noon. Trumbull County Probate Court, Senior Court and Guardian Angels will present a Senior Safety Summit from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 in the Administration Building at Kent State University Trumbull Campus, 4314 Mahoning Ave., N.W., Warren. Registration will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Featured speakers will be Dr. Armon Shayesteh and Judge Thomas Swift. Admission is free and there will be refreshments, snacks and gifts. Warren SCOPE Senior Center, 220 W. Market St., is inviting local seniors to attend a free “Housing Opportunities for Seniors 101” workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Representatives will be available to discuss available housing options in Trumbull County for senior citizens. The center is looking for seniors to join canasta, Uno, or euchre groups. It also is considering an old-fashioned square dancing group. Those interested in participating in any of these activities should call the center at 330-399-8846.
