Rev. Jesse is Zion Lutheran senior pastor

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Cornersburg, has called a new senior pastor, the Rev. Duane A. Jesse.

The church has been served by interim pastors for the past 31/2 years.

The Rev. Mr. Jesse served Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Cortland for the past 15 years and added St. John Lutheran Church in Champion to his calling in 2009. Since 2005, he has been chaplain at Lake Vista of Cortland.

Mr. Jesse has been on the board at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Service and has served in leadership within the Synod Council of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Eastern Conference of the ELCA, Trumbull Area Lutheran Coalition and Lakeview Outreach and Fellowship.

The pastor earned an associate degree from TriState University, now Trine University; a bachelor’s degree at Elon College; and a master of divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He was ordained in 1997.

His wife, Carol, is a first-grade teacher in Warren City Schools. They have two sons.
