Man dies downtown, coroner investigating

Police and the Mahoning County coroner are investigating the death of a man on West Federal Street.
Police had taped off a pickup truck across the street from the DeYor Center on Thursday night.
Coroner’s investigator Courtney Bouchie said the 911 call came in at 8:54 p.m. Thursday. She would not identify the man or give his age, adding that more information will be available today.
She said it was not possible at the scene to tell if the man died of natural causes.
A friend of the man’s said he had heart problems. Another man, who called 911, said the victim was “blue and gagging.”
Tree-trimmer dies
AUSTINTOWN
A man died after he fell while cutting down or trimming a tree this afternoon, Austintown police and fire officials confirmed.
The accident happened at 2 p.m. at a Crum Road address.
The man’s name and age were not released. The Mahoning County coroner’s office is investigating.
Teen shot in robbery
YOUNGSTOWN
A 14-year-old boy was slightly injured when he was the victim of an armed robbery around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the robbers shot at the boy at the corner of South and Ravenwood avenues.
There was no other information available Thursday night. A police report was not yet complete.
