The Rotary Club of Canfield sponsored its semiannual Poorest of the Poor Clothing Drive at Canfield Village Middle School on May 5.

The organization collected used clothing which will be sorted and distributed throughout the world to those families who are in desperate need or have experienced a natural disaster.

The club has also been asked to support the Veterans Family Rehabilitation Organization this year and to provide donated items to local veterans and their families.

According to Rotary Club member Marie Cartwright, Rotary clubs nationwide hold a clothing drive in the spring and fall.

“Nationally, all Rotary clubs host a spring and fall clothing drive, and then the clothes are sent to a collection center and sorted and distributed both abroad and locally,” Cartwright said.

During the clothing drive, Rotarians were also available to pick up bags and boxes from houses within the city and township limits.
