Pa. man gets prison for stabbing over vodka bottle
SMETHPORT, Pa. (AP) — A 26-year-old northwestern Pennsylvania will spend 5 1/2 to 11 years in prison for stabbing a man during a post-party fight over a bottle of vodka.
The Bradford Era reports 26-year-old Randon Black, of Bradford, was sentenced Monday by a McKean County judge.
Black was acquitted of attempted homicide at his trial in June, but convicted of aggravated assault for stabbing 39-year-old David Kelsey seven times during the Sept. 7 altercation.
Black testified he took the vodka with him when he left a birthday party at Kelsey’s house because Black claimed the liquor belonged to a friend.
Kelsey claimed it became his once Black’s friend left it behind after leaving the party.
Black’s attorney argued his client was only defending himself, but prosecutors argued text messages show Black was spoiling for a fight.
