A hearing Aug. 27 will determine whether former Canfield Dairy Queen owner Trent Rapp will go to prison for violating the terms of his probation.

Rapp, 44, of Beaver Township, went before Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on Monday for a probable-cause hearing. Judge Sweeney determined during the hearing that Rapp was in violation of his probation and scheduled a probation-violation hearing.

Rapp was sentenced May 30 to five years’ probation after pleading no- contest in February to charges of marijuana trafficking, cocaine possession, corrupting another with drugs, possessing criminal tools, illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and two counts of pandering sexually oriented material.

He also was ordered to have no contact with the victim in the case and to register as a Tier 1 sex offender.

Rapp, who formerly owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Canfield, was arrested Friday by the Adult Parole Authority for violating those terms.

Canfield police said the victim’s mother gave them a statement that said Rapp recently had met with her son, a heroin addict, to give him money for drugs. Police said they sent the mother’s statement to APA, whose officers arrested Rapp.

Judge Sweeney told Rapp during his sentencing hearing that if he was found violating her terms he could face up to 81/2 years in prison. He is now in Mahoning County jail without bond.
