WEATHERSFIELD

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a car involved in a one-vehicle crash belongs to a man reported missing on June 9.

On Tuesday, the vehicle, registered to Jorry Palm of Akron, was pulled from a swampy area on state Route 46, north of Salt Springs Road.

A body was recovered from the scene, but the identity is unknown, the OSHP reported.

A helicopter pilot spotted the wreckage when he was flying over the area and notified authorities.

According to a statement from the OSHP, the 2007 Mazda Speed Six was traveling north on Route 46 at a high rate of speed when it went off the left side of the road and struck an area of concrete. The vehicle continued through a wooded area and over a ravine, before it came to rest on its roof in the swampy area.

The body of the driver was taken to the Trumbull County Coroner’s office.

Officials said they don’t know the time and date of the accident, and it remains under investigation.
