Man crashes, dies after falling asleep at wheel


NEW CASTLE, Pa.

A 22-year-old city man died Saturday morning after falling asleep while driving home.

Matthew Criscito’s car struck a telephone pole at East Washington Street and Clarence Avenue and rolled over. He was pronounced dead at Jameson Hospital from chest injuries, according to a news release from New Castle Police. Criscito wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Police were dispatched shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday.
