Juror sickness suspends testimony in soldier’s trial

A juror’s illness led to a temporary suspension of testimony in the court-martial of an Army sergeant facing court-martial for hazing a private who killed himself.

A a juror complained of feeling sick Friday in the court-martial of Sgt. Adam Holcomb, who’s accused of hazing Pvt. Danny Chen while deployed to Afghanistan.

Military officials say Chen shot himself while on guard duty, and Holcomb and seven other soldiers are charged with hazing that led to Chen’s death. If convicted on all charges, Holcomb could be sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison.

Army Criminal Investigations special agent Chris Hubbard testified that there was a probe of the outpost for shooting unarmed civilians.
