The Women’s Ministry of Restoration Christian Fellowship Church, 151 Folsom Drive NW, will sponsor a women’s empowerment weekend on Aug. 5.
Evangelist Brenda Jones of Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell, Pa., will speak at the 11 a.m. service. At 5 p.m., Deborah Shealey of Greater Apostolic Faith will speak.
The day will include women’s mass choir, youth girls choir, young adult women’s mime and inspirational poetry.
Kimberly D. Walker is co-pastor and director of RCF Women’s Ministries; Joan Oliver and Camille Standford are co-chairwomen of the event; and the Rev. Joseph E. Walker Jr. is senior pastor.
Church recognized

Liberty Presbyterian Church received a certificate of appreciation from the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley in recognition of the congregation’s nearly 30 years of support.
On the second Saturday of each month, volunteers from the church serve meals to those in residence and to those in need of a hot meal. The congregation also donates to the program.
St. Therese novena

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish will offer a novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus, “the little flower.” It will begin at 5 p.m. Monday and continue on Mondays then conclude on her Feast Day, Oct. 1, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St.
Conference set

Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave., will present a conference, “Women United for Christ,” at 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 4. Open prayer will be an hour before services both days. Guest speaker will be apostle Mary D. Lawrence, founder and pastor of Open Door Outreach Center in Atlanta and author of “The Woman/The Compass.” There is no admission fee; a free-will offering will be taken.

Fellowship Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ, 2139 Market St., will have its first woman’s day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Featured speaker will be Leta Paramore, co-pastor of Christ Centered Church. Spiritual uplift will be provided by the Women of Grace and Excellence Choir.
Fellowship will follow with refreshments served in the fellowship hall after the 5 p.m. service.
Praise in song

Members of Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb Road, will gather at 3 p.m. Aug. 5 outdoors at the church to sing “How Great Thou Art.”
The congregation urges other churches to do the same in order to praise God.
Grace Church members also ask other churches to ring bells or carillons from 2:30 to 3 p.m. as part of the worship.

The 80th annual Serbian Day picnic will be Sunday at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave. Divine Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. The event from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the church hall and pavilion will include food, musical entertainment and children’s games. Admission is $3.
