Polish Youngstown Inc. has been granted status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
The group was formed to promote Polish cultural and ethnic awareness. Specifically, it develops, supports and promotes unique programs, classes and gatherings throughout Northeast Ohio that educate the residents of the Mahoning Valley.
Current long-term efforts include the Krakowiaki Polish Folk Circle, the Veterans Monument and Mapping Project at Peterson Park in Poland, the Black Madonna Shrine Project at St. Columba Cathedral, and Polish Day 2012 at Austintown Plaza. Trumbull Career and Technical Center Adult Training Center is offering a 720-hour computer-technology program for potential full-time students.
Included in the program cost is an iPad 2 and the QuickBooks and MOS Certification exam fees.
Some of the course highlights include: Microsoft Office 2010 (through the advanced level), QuickBooks and MOS Computer Certifications, Accounting I & II, Legal Office Procedures, QuickBooks/Payroll and an externship. This course is financial-aid eligible.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is celebrating its grand opening at 813 Boardman-Poland Road in the Presidential Square shopping center Saturday and Sunday. The festivities take place both days from 2 to 5 p.m.

Sales agreements for homes increase

The Ohio Association of Realtors reported Thursday the number of single-family homes and condominiums with pending sales agreements in June rose for the 14th-consecutive month.
A pending sale or a sale “under agreement” is when the buyer and seller agree on terms of the sale of a home and have a signed purchase and sales agreement but have yet to close it.
