Inmate charged with killing at W. Pa. state prison

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — State police have charged a Pittsburgh-area man with killing a fellow inmate at a state prison in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 43-year-old Mark Farabaugh. He was serving time for fleeing from police and driving under the influence when he allegedly attacked another inmate, 52-year-old Keith Williams, at the State Correctional Institution-Laurel Highlands on March 24.

The Daily American of Somerset reports state police charged Farabaugh Thursday after investigating Williams death from a skull fracture two days after the alleged attack.

At least three inmates say they saw Farabaugh punching Williams, who used a wheelchair. Police say Farabaugh claimed Williams had slapped him in the face and knocked off his glasses, but the other inmates say Williams didn’t hit Farabaugh.

Williams, also from Allegheny County, was serving time for rape.
