Youngstown firefighters say vacant-house fire on West Side was arson

YOUNGSTOWN — Firefighters were called to 21 N. Bon Air Ave. on the city’s West Side about 4 a.m. today for a blaze believed to have been deliberately set.

Officials said it appeared the fire was started near the back door and extended into the house and second floor, mostly on the exterior. Neighbors said the house had been vacant for about two months.

The property damage was estimated at about $20,000, and a demolition request has been filed for the property, according to reports.
