The cause of a late Tuesday fire on the city’s South Side remains under investigation. Firefighters were called to 55 W. Dewey Ave. about 11:05 p.m., and Youngstown police also responded and helped get occupants out of the residence. The property damage was estimated to be about $5,000, and no serious injuries were reported. The blaze appeared to begin on an exterior balcony, according to reports.

Spay, neuter clinic

TNR will have a mobile spay and neuter clinic for cats Aug. 4 and 5 at Tractor Supply, 3800 Elm Road. The veterinarians and vet technicians who travel with the clinic have done more than 50,000 spays and neuters. Low-income individuals will pay $20 for a cat spay and $10 for a cat neuter. Teen girl robbed

YOUNGSTOWN

A 15-year-old girl from Columbiana told city police she was pushed from behind and robbed while walking on Powers Way on the city’s South Side.

The girl and her mother went to the police station Tuesday evening to report the crime, which occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday. The girl said she left a friend’s house and was walking in the 2000 block of Powers Way to another friend’s house, when someone pushed her down to the ground from behind, dumped her purse out and took her shoes, according to reports. The person fled with the girl’s wallet, shoes and phone. The girl said the person did not say anything during the robbery and she kept her head down to avoid confrontation and did not see the suspect, police said.

Beaver police line malfunctioning

Beaver Township police dispatch is having technical difficulties with the main police line, 330-549-5338, on incoming calls from some 549 exchanges. Those in the township having an emergency or needing to contact the department are asked to call using a cellphone or by dialing 911 instead of the main police line.

Strawberry fest

BOARDMAN

Vista Center of Boardman, 830 Boardman- Canfield Road, will have its first Strawberry Fest from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today. The event will feature a polka-jam band, games, prizes and the crowning of the center’s own “Little Miss Strawberry.” The teen Lordstown Leo’s Club will also help out with activities, which will take place outside the facility’s main entrance, weather permitting.
