Local pediatric surgery

BOARDMAN

Beginning in August, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will add general pediatric surgery to the surgical services offered at the Kikel Center for Pediatric Surgery located on its Beeghly campus, enabling non-urgent, surgical procedures for newborns, children and teens to be performed locally.

Other elective procedures offered include dental; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; ophthalmology; orthopedic; reconstructive/plastic, and urology.

Previously, families needed to travel outside the area for these procedures, said Dr. Elena Rossi, associate chair of pediatrics and neonatologist at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
