Man accused of running marijuana operation

Staff report

Lowellville

A village man was arrested after police said he was running an extensive marijuana operation.

Lowellville police charged David Woolweaver, 41, on Monday with cultivation, possession and child endangering after executing a search warrant at his home at 45. E. McGaffney St., said Chief William Vance.

Vance said the department began investigating about five months ago after numerous complaints from neighbors and officers patrolling the area.

While executing the search warrant, Vance said police found 72 potted marijuana plants, a cultivation system, cash and several plants packaged and ready to sell.

Poland Village and Struthers City police departments assisted.

Woolweaver is in Struthers jail and will be arraigned in Struthers Municipal Court on Wednesday.

Vance said the investigation is ongoing. “We have a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of stuff in our village, and we’re not going to put up with it.”
