Woman accused in officer attack held on $75,000 bond

A 41-year-old Youngstown woman, who police said tried to run over two officers and a 25-year-old woman, is being held at the Mahoning County jail on $75,000 bond.

Judge Robert A. Milich of Youngstown Municipal Court arraigned Charlotte Moreland of Elbertus Avenue on Monday on three counts of felonious assault.

Misdemeanor traffic charges of driving with a suspended license and reckless operation was dismissed today by the city prosecutor without prejudice, meaning they can be reinstated.

Police say Moreland purposely crashed her car on Sunday on West Princeton Avenue into a vehicle owned by a 25-year-old woman after a fight at a nearby club.

The 25-year-old woman and two police officers had to jump out of the way not to get hit by Moreland’s vehicle. She also crashed her car into a nearby police cruiser.

Police chased Moreland in that cruiser and ordered her out of her car at gunpoint.
