Poker run to benefit police memorials

The Youngstown Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 28 will have its second annual “Forever on Patrol” Memorial Poker Run on Aug. 12 at Quaker Steak & Lube on U.S. Route 224.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with brunch, and the first bike will be out at noon.

The cost is $10 for a single rider and $15 for a couple for the ride only and $15 single and $25 for a couple for the ride and dinner.

Funds raised will be used to maintain the memory of officers killed in the line of duty at events such as the Memorial Luncheon, and for maintaining memorials on the Peace Officer’s Memorial Bridge in Youngstown.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s mobile outreach center will visit the Youngstown unit of the NAACP from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to accept complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.

The EEOC considers retaliation the firing of a worker who complained about job discrimination, gave evidence in a job-discrimination matter or filed a charge of job discrimination with the commission.

Boil alert lifted

The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer has lifted the boil alert that had been in effect since Friday for these areas in Brookfield Township: Yankee Run Road, Lincoln Avenue, Valley View Drive, Lee Drive, Lynita Drive, Crestwood Drive, Springdale Drive, Sunnydell Drive, Northview Drive and Wildwood Drive.
