Cook-off planned in Aug. as fundraiser

A chili cook-off to raise money for a Howland girl badly injured in a Bobcat loader accident will be 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at Eastwood Field.

A ticket to sample all vendors and cast a vote on the winner costs $15. A single bowl of chili costs $5.

An $8 event ticket includes entrance to the cook-off, a 7:05 p.m. Scrappers game and fireworks. Tickets can be purchased at Buffalo Wild Wings and Rent-A-Center in Niles or Sunrise Pizza and Mickey’s Army & Navy of Warren.

The fundraiser will benefit Marisa Kay Vincent, 7, who was injured in late May and is expected to spend several more months in Akron Children’s Hospital. She will need a ramp and other accommodations at her home before she leaves the hospital.
