YOUNGSTOWN

A 41-year-old Youngstown woman faces multiple criminal charges after police said she tried to run over two police officers and a woman on the South Side today.

Charlotte Moreland of Elbertus Avenue purposely crashed her Pontiac Bonneville into a car of a 25-year-old woman about 4:47 a.m. today, police said.

The two officers and the woman had to jump out of the way not to get hit, police said.

Moreland also crashed into a police cruiser.

The two officers who had to jump out of the way got into that cruiser, and had Moreland and a female passenger get out of the car at gunpoint.

Moreland and her passenger said the other woman and her friend got into a fight with them, and they were challenging the two to another fight, according to a police report.

Moreland is in the Mahoning County jail pending an arraignment Monday on three counts of felonious assault as well as one charge each of driving with a suspended license and reckless operation.

No one was injured.
