A 23-year-old city man is facing a misdemeanor theft charge, accused of stealing water from his neighbor’s house. Police were called to Lucius Avenue on Friday evening when a woman said a neighbor, Nick Lave, who resides at 21 E. Lucius Ave. had been stealing her water in June and July and she was prepared to press charges, according to reports. The woman said she saw the man hauling water from her spigot to his house on several occasions and that her water bill has spiked from its usual $76 a month to $105.10 in June and $184 in July, police said. Officers said that 21 E. Lucius Ave. did not have water service.

Boil advisory

Ten streets in Brookfield Township remained under a boil advisory Saturday night. A boil advisory will remain in effect until further notice and means water customers should boil tap water used for drinking and ingestion for three to five minutes. The streets are Yankee Run Road, Lincoln Avenue, Valley View Drive, Lee Drive Northeast, Lynita Drive, Crestwood Drive Northeast, Springdale Drive, Sunnydale Drive, Northview Drive and Wildwood Drive.

Ivy Woods Manor, 9625 Market St., is having a blood drive for the American Red Cross from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 31. The facility has challenged its staff to provide 20 units of blood and is challenging community members to match that commitment. Local supporters of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign gathered Saturday for the grand opening of the latest Organizing for America-Ohio (OFA) office in Pinetree Plaza, 6 Youngstown-Warren Road, with guest speakers U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, and state Rep. Tom Letson of Warren, D-64th. Along with field offices in Boardman, Warren, and Youngstown, the Niles office will serve as a community hub for 2012 election activities.
