Gunfire reported

WARREN

A 38-year-old Phillips Avenue Southwest woman reported that a 58-year-old woman living nearby fired a gun at her house at 7:43 p.m. Thursday while arguing over a dog.

The victim said she and a 16-year-old boy walked to the neighbor’s house to ask why the neighbors had called the dog warden on them. They talked with the 58-year-old woman and three other people at the home and left when they were told to.

But several of the parties continued the argument at the victim’s house. After the argument turned physical, the 58-year-old woman fired a handgun at the victim’s house from the front step. The bullet went through the open door of the house and into the living room ceiling, police said.

No one was injured by the gunfire, but several people were injured in the scuffle that preceded it.

The 58-year-old woman admitted firing the gun but said she fired it in the air to stop the fight, which involved her sons. Police are investigating.
