Gospel concert

Bread of Life Church of God in Christ, 702 Cameron Ave., will host missionary Elizabeth Jackson at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Her message will be “Women, “We Serve a Mighty God.”

The music department will present “Angelic Praise Gospel Concert” at 5 p.m. July 29. Soloists and groups are welcome.

Choir anniversary

The adult choir of Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 66 10th St., will celebrate its 66th anniversary with a musical featuring various local choirs and musicians at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Tent revival

Grace Evangelistic Temple Ministries, 1026 Shehy St., will have a tent revival at 7 p.m. Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 with a community health fair and service and call to youth at 7 p.m.; and July 28, service at 10 a.m.

Theme is “Challenge to Change a Life, Family & Community.”

Groening lecture

“Help and Healing on the Spiritual Path Through the Teachings of Bruno Groening” will be presented at 7 p.m. July 30 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 S. Broad St.

The session is at, but is not affiliated with, the church.

The lecture is sponsored by the Circle for Spiritual Aid to Life, based on the teachings of Groening, a German healer and teacher.

The free information lecture is about 90 minutes.

First Friday

Dr. Donna Orsuto, co-founder of the Lay Center at Foyer Unitas, will be the featured speaker when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St.

Her topic will be “Spirituality for Laity.”

An American laywoman, Dr. Orsuto is an expert in spiritual theology and a professor at the Institute of Spirituality at Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

“Joyful Noise,” a comedy about a flat-broke town choir whose members dream of winning a national contest, will be shown.

Retreat planned

Villa Maria Education & Spirituality Center will sponsor a retreat, “Villa Land Retreat: The Spirit of the Land,” from Aug. 14 to Aug. 18.

In a contemplative spirit, presenters will be Sister Barbara O’Donnell, eco-spirituality associate, and Frank Romeo, director of land management emeritus at the Villa.
