Township police continue to search for the woman accused of stabbing her girlfriend during an altercation.

Officers arrived at a home on Oregon Trail about 8:20 p.m. Thursday and found a 26-year-old woman standing in the front yard with a stab wound to the stomach.

The woman told police her girlfriend stabbed her with a butcher knife after she refused to leave the house with her.

Inside the home that the women shared, police found broken glass on the kitchen floor, an overturned bed and other signs of a struggle, the police report said.

The suspect, whose name wasn’t released by Boardman police Friday, left the scene in a green Jeep Cherokee before police arrived, according to reports.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for the suspect, and she faces charges of domestic violence and felonious assault.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Heath Center in Youngstown where she underwent surgery to check for internal bleeding. Her condition was unavailable Friday afternoon.
