Texas couple plan open ceremony for Sept. wedding

The Rev. and Mrs. John Oliver of Austintown are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Christa J. Oliver of New Braunfels, Texas, to Isaac A. Torres of San Marcos, Texas. The future groom is the son of Norma Jean Cruer of Redondo Beach, Calif., and the late Jose Torres.

The couple will be united in marriage in a 1 p.m. open ceremony Sept. 22 at Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church in Youngstown. A reception by invitation is being planned at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna.

The bride-elect is a dance professor at Texas State University in San Marcos and at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. She earned a master’s degree in dance performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Mr. Torres earned bachelors’ degrees in speech pathology and Spanish from the University of Oregon. He is a grant specialist and founder of the S.E.E.D.S. creative writing program at Texas State University in San Marcos.
