Second horizontal well producing in Columbiana County

A second horizontal drilling well in Columbiana County has been listed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources as being in production.

The second producing well is in West Township. It is located off U.S. Route 30 about a mile east of East Rochester.

Both producing wells in Columbiana County are owned by Chesapeake Energy, according to ODNR.

There was one new horizontal drilling permit issued in the area during the last week. The ODNR gave approval for a location in Fairfield Township in Columbiana County to Chesapeake Exploration LLC.

The site is located off Beeson Mill Road about a mile east of Leetonia.
