Neighbors | Submitted.Mandi Schialdone, administrator of BUMP, was arrested for charity on July 12. She was locked up in the hopes of raising $2400 bail to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help them learn about and find cures for neurological diseases.

Boardman United Methodist Preschool and Child Care Center (BUMP), a non-profit center was without an administrator on July 12.

In an attempt to raise money and awareness, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Mandi Schialdone, who was charged with having a big heart. Schialdone, BUMP’s Administrator joined other community leaders for Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) telethon executive lock-up.

Schialdone’s bail was set at $2,400 and all bail money will go toward helping MDA continue research into the cause and possible cure of the 43 neuromuscular diseases they cover. Schialdone is grateful for this opportunity for many reasons.

“I have a number of friends and family members who suffer from some type of neuromuscular disease. Knowing that I can help them in their fight makes it all worthwhile.” she said.

“This lock-up is a great way for BUMP to teach our children about disabilities and helping others. I want the children to learn that you are never too young to make a difference in someone else’s life. I also want them to take away from this experience that we are each unique in our own way and that many of us face challenges. This is what makes each of us special.”
