Girls 15-17

Hickory High's Rosy Hearns fired back on the back 9 to win the Girls U17 division with a final score of 80.

Taking second was Canfield's Christina Cooper with 83. Gina DePasquale, Hubbard, took third with 84.

Greatest Boys U17

Dominic Carano is the first Greatest Golfer of the Valley for 2012.

Carano, Canfield, got a front-nine lead he never relinquished Saturday at Trumbull Country Club. He finished with a 75 for the junior Greatest title.

Second place in the Boys U17 division went to Josh McQuown, Poland, who fired a 78.

Third place went to the inaugural junior Greatest champ, 2011's James LaPolla, who fired a 79 and won in a scorecard playoff over Billy Colbert of Hickory.

Brian Terlesky of Boardman followed a par 35 on the front nine with a 2-under 33 on the back to card 68 and win the U14 division.

On his heels was Boardman's Ken Keller with a 72. Third place went to Poland's Zach Jacobson.

In the Girls U17, Christina Cooper carded a 38 to lead her division.

Trailing Carano is Evan Standohar, 38, and 2011 Greatest champ James LaPolla at 38.

Trailing Cooper is Gina DePasquale at 41 and Melinda Hannon at 42.

The 2012 Greatest Golfer of the Valley junior finals are Saturday at Trumbull Country Club.

The finals are the culmination of six qualifiers that teed off in May and continued thru last week.

The adult Greatest Golfer will take place Aug. 24, 25 & 26. Players can still register by going to the registration site.
