Former Canfield athletes excel at OSU

Hilary Allen and Gavin Trebilcock, both 2011 Canfield graduates, as well as Garrett Trebilcock, Canfield High School Class of 2010, were named Scholar Athletes for the 2011-2012 school year at the Ohio State University. To achieve the status of a Scholar Athlete, students must obtain at least a 3.0 GPA and participate in intercollegiate athletics at OSU.

Gavin and Garrett are both on the swim team and Allen was a member of the rowing team at Ohio State that was runner-up at the Big 10 Conference Championships in 2012.

Both Trebilcocks were on the swim team that also earned second place in the Big 10 Conference. In addition, Garrett earned the title of Academic All-Big Ten, meaning that he lettered in his sport with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America named him an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American for having at least a 3.5 GPA and making an NCAA “B” cut time.

Garrett also qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
