Drug crimes up over 2011 in Valley


SOUTHINGTON

Statewide, arrests and drugs seized by the Ohio State Highway Patrol are up significantly this year compared with 2011, said Lt. Brian Holt, commander of the Southington Post.

Troopers have seized 27,875 grams of heroin in the first six months of 2012 — a 327 percent increase over the same period in 2011, Holt said.

Troopers have seized more than double the amount of marijuana during the first six months of 2012 compared with that period in 2011.

Drug arrests of all types are up 30 percent.
