Aggravated menacing: An official with a South Avenue long-term care center reported that co-workers told her they had overheard someone threaten to kill the accuser.
Theft: A GPS unit, a phone charger and $75 were removed from a car parked in the 7400 block of Oregon Trail.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 1000 block of Boardman-Canfield Road was found with a deep scratch to its passenger side.
Burglary: Kawanjula T. Harden, 18, of 4931 Southern Blvd., Boardman, faced a burglary charge after a Shadyside Drive woman discovered a rear door had been kicked in. Police discovered Harden, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, hiding in the basement, they said.
Breaking and entering: A GPS device and $130 were stolen from a vehicle in a garage someone had entered in the 7400 block of Oregon Trail.
Theft: A computer storage device and a tablet were taken from a car in the 7400 block of South Avenue.
Attempted auto theft: Police at a Boardman-Poland Road store charged 34-year-old Ricky J. Short, 551 Hills Dale Drive NW, Warren, with attempted auto theft and possession of criminal tools, both felonies, after saying they saw Short twice insert a tool into a van’s locks in an effort to steal the vehicle.
June 29
Harassment: A Shadyside Drive woman reported receiving an unwanted call in which the person claimed to have knowledge about a burglary at the accuser’s home.
Theft: An employee with a South Avenue motel reported her purse, two cellphones, a prescription bottle and other property missing from her car.
Assault/domestic violence: A domestic-violence charge was pending against a man after his former girlfriend alleged he threatened to kill her. Also, another man with the woman at a U.S. Route 224 fast-food restaurant alleged the man spit in his face.
Stolen property: Police executed a search warrant for a residence in the 7500 block of Glenwood Avenue, where they found numerous items that reportedly had been stolen from vehicles. No arrests were made at the time of the report, however.
Misuse of a credit card: A New Castle, Pa., woman found out her credit card had been used to make an $801 fraudulent purchase at a Boardman-Poland Road store.
Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was charged in the theft of three T-shirts and makeup from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: A $100 radar detector and a pair of sunglasses were removed from a vehicle in the 8100 block of Hunting Valley Drive.
Counterfeit: An investigator with Huntington National Bank, 3960 South Ave., discovered a woman had deposited a $9,850 check, then withdrew funds before it was determined the check was fraudulent.
Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of Ewing Road, apparently through a rear sliding-glass door. An iPad and another computer device were taken.
Theft: A woman from the Pittsburgh area at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant saw that someone had stolen her purse containing several valuables from her vehicle.
Theft: A man stole a cellphone charger from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Breaking and entering: Someone in the 7400 block of Huntington Drive broke into a vehicle and took a GPS device and change.
Menacing: A Willow Drive man said a woman has continually driven past his residence in an effort to stalk him.
Arrest: Police responded to threats in the 4900 block of Southern Boulevard, where they picked up 21-year-old Frankie E. Lockett, 4913 Southern Blvd., who was accused of violating a court order related to a domestic-violence charge from Austintown.
Theft: A Red Tail Hawk Drive man reported his wife’s $500 pair of sunglasses stolen from their car.
Theft: A wallet was taken from a vehicle in the 2300 block of Hunters Ridge Drive.
Weapon: Suspicious activity in the 7200 block of Market Street caught the attention of police, who charged 18-year-old Yanyria D. Linares of Manassas, Va., with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia after saying Linares had a folding knife. Also found were a suspected marijuana pipe and suspected marijuana debris, a report said.
Harassment: A Pinetree Lane man reported getting unwanted text messages after having listed a car part for sale online.
June 30
Theft: An iPhone charger, a pair of sunglasses, a USB computer cable and other items were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7600 block of Spring Park Drive.
Domestic violence: Michael A. Welsh, 38, of 311 E. Dewey Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony domestic-violence charge and a simple-assault count after officers responded to a disturbance in the 7100 block of Glendale Avenue in which Welsh’s girlfriend alleged he had pushed her to the ground, causing the accuser to strike and injure her tailbone. A man who tried to intervene alleged Welsh, who has two prior domestic-violence convictions, punched his head several times.
Threats: A Canfield girl, 16, was charged with making domestic-violence threats after her grandmother alleged the teen threatened to harm her.
Burglary: Occurred in the 7300 block of Glenwood Avenue via an unlocked rear window. Stolen were a Wii game system and a 42-inch flat-screen TV.
Theft/forgery: An elderly Claybourne Avenue man alleged that two people to whom he had rented a room used his credit card to make unauthorized cash advances totaling about $659, and stole and forged some of his checks for more than $600.
Theft: A Canfield man told police he rented a banquet room at a South Avenue motel for $1,482, but was never reimbursed, despite having been promised.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 1500 block of Walker Mill Road had a broken driver’s-side window.
Theft: A Johnston Place woman noticed a trailer-hitch ball was stolen from her vehicle’s bumper.
Possible theft: A $4,390 women’s engagement ring was missing from LeRoy’s Jewelers in Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Western Reserve Road resulted in 38-year-old Dorian A. Brown’s arrest. Brown, of 1442 Humbolt Ave., Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
Assault: A 15-year-old girl alleged her stepmother grabbed her cheek and threatened to beat her up at an Applewood Boulevard residence.
July 1
Harassment: A Gertrude Avenue man said a client made an unwanted call to the accuser’s home.
Domestic violence: Wayne R. Johnson, 61, was taken into custody at his home, 310 Melrose Ave., Boardman, on a felony warrant after an elderly family member alleged Johnson had smacked her face, causing swelling and redness.
Auto theft: A 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was stolen near Tippecanoe and Canfield roads.
Theft: A Youngstown man reported his wallet missing from a swimming-pool area at a Red Tail Hawk Drive apartment complex.
Theft: A South Schenley Avenue woman reported her $100 Trac phone stolen.
July 6
Trespassing: Police picked up James E. Allen, 31, of 137 E. Avondale Ave., Youngstown, in Trumbull County on a criminal-trespassing warrant. He was accused of continually asking people for money at a Hillman Way bank’s automated-teller machine, despite having been issued warnings barring him from being on bank property, a report said.
Theft: A man stole a $150 tool kit from Radio Shack, 7131 Tiffany Blvd.
Theft: Someone stole $4,500 worth of construction materials from a construction site in the 1300 block of Doral Drive.
Fraud: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman reported two unauthorized charges to her debit card that originated in Florida and totaled $116.
Criminal damaging: A window to a home in the 50 block of Overhill Drive was damaged, possibly with a rock.
Menacing: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman said a man drove slowly past her when she stopped at a nearby gas station in an effort to stalk her.
Employee theft: Police charged Shelly L. Calvin, 23, of 96 N. Broad St., Canfield, after having been accused of taking at least $300 from a drawer at a township store in a two-month time period.
Menacing: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road company reported a co-worker made several unwanted sexual comments and gestures toward her.
Arrest: David M. Palmi, 56, of 430 Marion Ave., Youngstown, was taken into custody during a traffic stop on East Midlothian Boulevard on a bench warrant charging him with a probation violation. Also, police cited 46-year-old W.D. Mixon, 550 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of driving under suspension.
Identity fraud: A Forest Park Place woman noticed six unauthorized charges to her credit card that originated in Mexico totaling $393.
Assault: A woman told police another woman twice pushed the accuser and threatened her during a baseball game on McClurg Road.
July 7
Harassment: The owner of a South Avenue motel reported receiving such calls.
Theft: An argument at a Boardman-Poland Road fast-food restaurant led to the arrest of 24-year-old Jovaun D. Lave. Lave, of 21 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court to face a felony theft charge.
Criminal damaging: A Market Street woman saw that someone had sprayed the front and passenger side of her vehicle with what appeared to be mustard.
Drugs: Officers responding to threats in the 300 block of Meadowbrook Avenue charged 36-year-old Mark G. Grinstead, 352 Meadowbrook, with four misdemeanor counts of drug possession and one count each of obstructing official business and resisting arrest after saying he had a bottle containing multiple pills that had not been prescribed to him. Police had to use a stun gun to get an enraged Grinstead to cooperate, a report showed.
Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a man after his girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged he twice choked her and threw her against a vehicle during an argument.
Domestic violence: Laura L. Brue, 45, of 126 Massachusetts Ave., Poland, was arrested at her residence on a warrant after her husband alleged Brue had punched him during an argument in their truck while they were near U.S. Route 224 and Interstate 680.
Misuse of a credit card: A Southwoods Drive man found out about a $115 unauthorized online charge to his debit card.
Identity fraud: A Thalia Avenue man learned someone without permission withdrew $376 from his checking account.
Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage the paint on a car’s fender in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue.
Assault: The manager of a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant told police that when he entered a restroom, a man twice pushed him after having damaged a picture frame. A short time later, authorities cited 25-year-old Jordan J. Ferns, 7398 E. Huntington Drive, Boardman, on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication, though Ferns was not charged in the assault.
Domestic violence: Kenneth Krecken, 49, of 337 Oak Ave., Boardman, faced domestic-violence and felonious-assault charges after his elderly mother-in-law alleged Krecken had punched her face at least six times. The woman was found with severe swelling to her forehead, dried blood on a corner of her mouth and bruises, police said.
Theft: Two women and a man stole a puppy from Harbour Pet Center, 7338 Market St.
Theft: A man was detained but released after reportedly stealing a $30 sports banner and a toothbrush from Touchdown Gifts & More in the Southern Park Mall. The property was recovered.
Theft: An East Liverpool girl and a Lisbon girl, both 17, were charged with stealing $103.51 worth of clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
July 8
Theft: A $300 chain saw was removed from a truck in the 6400 block of Mill Creek Boulevard.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Route 224 resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Billie J. Seay, 67 Hilton Ave., Youngstown, on warrants accusing her of failing to appear in court on a felony assault charge as well as a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 700 block of Orlo Lane was found with punctures to its passenger-side tires.
Burglary: Someone forced open the front door to a home in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue before taking 475 personal checks.
Theft: A township woman reported her purse stolen at a store in the Shops at Boardman Park.
Theft: A man age 25 to 30 stole a 32-inch TV from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, then left in a vehicle.
Criminal mischief: Someone entered a car in the 300 block of Indianola Road and scattered the glove compartment’s contents.
July 12
Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown girl was charged with stealing three pairs of shoes and a pair of shorts from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Arrests: Police arrested Samuel V. Esposito, 23, and Norma J. Esposito, 63, at their residence, 1911 Pointview Ave., Youngstown, on charges of receiving stolen property after contending that stolen property from the township was found during a search of the home. The elder Esposito also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Theft: A global-positioning-system unit and a DVD player were removed from a car in the 7900 block of Market Street.
Aggravated menacing: A worker with a Boardman-Canfield Road call center told officers a frustrated customer implied he might come to the business with a firearm.
Arrests: Officers on U.S. Route 224 said they heard commotion between the occupants of two vehicles behind them before they charged 19-year-old Donniquea S. Jones, 530 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, with two counts each of felonious assault and endangering children as well as one count each of domestic violence, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and failure to comply with police. Two people, including a former family member, alleged Jones, who had two children in her vehicle, had rammed their car several times, and authorities said Jones briefly struggled with them. Also, police charged a 12-year-old Youngstown girl with obstructing official business, menacing and resisting arrest.
Misuse of a credit card: A South Schenley Avenue woman found out her debit card had been used to make a $143 online purchase without permission.
Burglary: Dustin Estep, 20, of 930 Woodside Ave., Youngstown, faced a burglary charge after a Firnley Avenue woman told police that after allowing Estep into her home, she noticed a safe containing jewelry and other items missing from a bedroom.
Vandalism: A vehicle’s rear passenger-side tire was punctured in the 8100 block of Market Street.
Domestic violence: Stephanie L. Gonda, 20, of 3453 Stratmore Ave., Youngstown, was charged after a situation in the 50 block of Shields Road in which her mother alleged Gonda had pulled her hair.
Threats: Frank T. Davanzo, 21, of 121 Ohltown Road, Austintown, was picked up on a warrant charging him with making domestic-violence threats after his former girlfriend alleged that while at a U.S. Route 224 fast-food restaurant, Davanzo had threatened to harm and kill her.
Attempted fraud: An elderly Pearson Circle woman reported a caller, claiming she was scheduled to receive a new Social Security number, told the accuser he would need her current Social Security and bank-account numbers. The woman hung up.
Domestic violence: Police arrested 62-year-old Robert E. Jackson, 4030 Hillman Way, Boardman, on a warrant after his girlfriend alleged Jackson had slapped and punched her head and face numerous times, knocked her to the ground and kicked her several times during an argument.
Theft: Annette Santos, 20, of 3704 Hillman St., Youngstown, was charged with taking five articles of women’s clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
July 13
Harassment: A Friendship Avenue man said he’s received a series of unwanted calls.
Menacing: A woman said another woman threatened the accuser at a Boardman-Poland Road beauty shop.
Theft: Pamela M. Sneed, 49, of 2558 Draper Ave. SE, Warren, was charged in the theft of $245.50 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.
Theft: A man in his 40s stole items from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave., before leaving in a car.
Theft: Cryslee J. Clinkscale, 19, of 121 Monroe St., Campbell, was charged in the theft of $41.25 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Theft: Fourteen compact discs, a cellphone and two phone chargers were removed from a vehicle in the 600 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.
Menacing: A Market Street woman alleged a neighbor with whom she has ongoing problems threatened her.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 200 block of Prestwick Drive was found with a damaged windshield. The estimate was $500.
Theft: A New Middletown woman found out her missing credit cards had been used without authorization at several Boardman locations.
Menacing: A Simon Road woman said a neighbor continually stares at her residence as a means of harassing her because of property issues between them.
Attempted fraud: A Sigle Lane woman reported a caller claiming to represent the United Parcel Service told her she had won $700,000 in a lottery drawing. The woman knew it was a scam and lost no money.
Theft: Police booked 48-year-old Deanna M. Tringhese, 34 Cherokee Lane, Columbiana, on two theft counts after one pair each of women’s jeans was stolen from two Southern Park Mall stores.
Identity fraud: A Wildwood Drive woman learned someone had used her Ohio driver’s-license number to cash a check at a Walmart store in Lexington, Ky.
July 14
Domestic violence: A township girl, 17, was charged with the crime after her guardian alleged the teen had punched her face and bit her right forearm during an argument.
Arrest: Wesley A. Gutierrez, 20, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Mathews Road. Gutierrez, of 28 Crescent Drive, Struthers, was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 6500 block of Market Street resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Nakebba Cochrane, 2903 Rush Blvd., Youngstown. She was wanted on a probation-violation charge as well as a felony count of making false alarms.
Theft: Kevin M. Sabo, 35, of 239 Gordon Ave., Campbell, was charged, accused of stealing two 5-gallon buckets of paint from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.
Drugs: Officers on Market Street pulled 55-year-old Lisa M. Barber of Uniontown, Ohio, over before charging her with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. A police dog led to the discovery of several small pieces of suspected crack cocaine, and a suspected crack pipe was in Barber’s pocket, a report said.
Criminal mischief: An egg was tossed at the front door and the porch to a residence in the 1200 block of Valley View Drive before three to five males were reportedly seen running from the area.
Theft: The owner of a piece of rental property in the 7300 block of Glenwood Avenue reported a washing machine and dryer, a refrigerator and a stove missing, for a loss of about $1,250.
Animal neglect: Authorities responded to a barking-dog complaint in the 700 block of Orlo Lane, where they found three dogs alone and contacted the homeowner, who was out of town. A representative of the Mahoning County Dog Warden’s office took the animals to Animal Charity Humane Society for temporary housing, a report showed.
Theft: A Wolosyn Circle man discovered a bag containing $40, his driver’s license and a spare set of keys missing.
Bad check: A worker for CheckSmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road, told police three people tried to cash a stolen $55 check with a forged signature.
Assault: A Shadyside Drive woman alleged that after allowing her former boyfriend into her home, he pushed the accuser against a wall, scratched her arms and tried to choke her.
Theft: A Youngstown woman discovered her purse missing while at a Market Street gas station.
Theft: A woman reported a metal grill and a 4-foot oak tree missing from her son’s Firnley Avenue yard.
July 15
Identity fraud: An Afton Avenue woman noticed a $30 unauthorized transaction from her bank account.
Assault/criminal damaging: A man reported having been punched in the face during a fight in the 7600 block of South Avenue, also where a vehicle was damaged.
Burglary: To a home in the 30 block of Erskine Avenue through a rear window. Stolen were a laptop computer, a 19-inch flat-screen TV, miscellaneous jewelry and other items, for a loss of $5,600.
Harassment: An employee with a Southern Park Mall business reported having received such calls from in or near Shreveport, La.
Arrest: Authorities assisting ambulance personnel with a combative patient arrested 42-year-old Darren L. Kerr, 216 W. Ohio Ave., Sebring, at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus on two counts of assault on a police officer and one each of disorderly conduct, public indecency and obstructing official business. Kerr jumped from an ambulance, then pulled down his shorts and exposed himself; later, he spit on an officer as well as several nurses and tried to bite officers, a report said.
Menacing: A worker for a South Avenue motel said her former boyfriend followed her in a vehicle and came to her place of employment.
