ACTION, Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods, is a faith-based community organizing group that focuses on a range of social issues, including crime prevention, education, immigration and health and wellness. Aug. 2: A public forum, “Putting the Public Back in Our Public Schools,” is scheduled at 6 p.m. at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 7 Garland Ave., Youngstown. Guest speaker will be Dr. Adrienne O’Neill, chairwoman of Youngstown Academic Distress Commission, who will answer questions concerning Youngstown’s Academic Recovery Plan (ARP).

Sept. 18: ACTION’s leadership task force will set goals for 2013 at 6 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., Youngstown.

Oct. 11: A public meeting is planned from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown.
