Deal on Covelli Center study delayed

YOUNGSTOWN

The city is still finalizing an agreement with a consulting firm to do an operational assessment of the Covelli Centre that could lead to the potential sale or lease of the facility.

The city’s board of control was expected today to vote on a contract with PA Sports and Entertainment, with offices in Downingtown, Pa., and Cranston, R.I.

But Mayor Charles Sammarone, the board’s chairman, said further talks on a cost and a specific outline for what the company will do are needed. Sammarone expects a deal in time for the next board meeting, Aug. 2.
