HUBBARD

City police are investigating two robberies that occurred at drugstores this weekend.

Sgt. David C. Oaks said that at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, a man entered Rite Aid at 147 W. Liberty St. The man selected an item to buy and brought it to the counter. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect grabbed approximately $400 from the register and fled, said Oaks.

A similar incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday. A man entered Walgreen’s at Liberty and Main streets. After he selected an item to buy, he went to the front of the store and laid a $20 bill on the counter. When the clerk opened the register, the man reached over and grabbed roughly $250, said Oaks.

He said witnesses described the robbers in both cases as black males about 5 feet 10 inches tall. Both had similar physical builds, according to witnesses.
